Fast Corydoras nijsseni and other new Corys!

At the fair in Vejle (pictures here: Vejle Akvarimesse at DK-event ) I picked up a few fish from my Norweigian friend Jørn Henning Flåten; a nice group of adult Corydoras nijsseni. Very good looking fish and a species I have wanted for a long time. I used to have a group that spawned, but nothing hatched. It went on like this for a couple of years and I let the group go. Now I had the opportunity to have another try.

It's really impressive...4 days in a bag and them plumped directly into a tank. Within 24 hours there were eggs everywhere!

Male and female. The males resemble the form of C111, a mottled C. nijsseni.

Some females are mottled too...

...while others are the non-mottled form.

Eggs in the flow...

...and in the corners.

A lot of the eggs went white, but a few looked good and hatched. I removed the adults from the tank and time will tell if I see small, striped fry darting around in a few days.

From another friend from Norway, Arild Strandberg, I recieved a group of nice C126. Semi-adult, so I guess it won't be long before I will try them in the spawning tank.
